I take 80 mg of soy at least and the 6 miligrams of pepper and sometimes over 400mg. Sprinkle it on your food. Seems to be waking up very old follicles that I had when I was in my twenties on my arms and legs and I notice a few on my head probably more than that. I am a perimenopausal woman in my 40's. Hair thinning just came upon me so quick so I started taking herbs. Now I take some Saw Palmetto too and Evening Primrose Oil caps and Black Cohosh. Zinc and hair vitamins. I do notice follicles reviving from the Isoflavones and Soy milk I drink with Cayenne. May give some heart burn but not because of Soy. Eat Tofu or any type soy. If you take herbs don't take them altogether, take them throughout the day after meals at differnt times. http://inhumanexperiment.blogspot.com/2009/09/capsaicin-and-soy-isoflavones-grow-hair.html Soy Isoflavones and Cayenne Pepper. DHT attacks the hair follicles until the follicles eventually die. The key is to use a DHT blocker or inhibitor before the follicle totally dies out. 5-alpha-reductase is the enzyme that converts testosterone into DHT. Saw Palmetto, an inexpensive over-the-counter herbal supplement with few if any side effects decreases the production of DHT by inhibiting the 5-alpha reductase enzyme. My personal experience: While going through menopause, my hair thinned out to an alarming degree. I found that a combination of saw palmetto and use of minoxidil (Rogaine) helped me regain my pre-menopause hair volume. 2% minoxidil is recommended for women and 5% minoxidil for men. It is extremely important to start treatment when you first notice the hair thinning. Once the hair follicle completely dies, there's nothing that can bring it back to life. As an added benefit, Saw Palmetto is effective in the treatment of BPH (benign prostatic hyperplasia) - enlarged prostate. It has a provocative scent kind of nutty scent but pleasant. I treat my scalp right after I wash and allow my hair to air dry. I flat iron or crimp my hair often (lots of heat) and I have noticed increased hair growth by 1/2 inch a month. I can tell because I relax my hair every five to six weeks as a result of the overgrowth. The massage action stimulates blood flow and circulation which does deliver nutrients to the roots and I am not breaking anymore at all. I trim my hair quarterly. I started this routine 3 months ago and I am pleased with the progress. Thanks Jeannie ramirez I use basil and peppermint mixed with macadamia oil. Don't believe it folks it's a marketing ploy to spend your money. If you are bald the only option you have is a hair piece or transplant.......end of story. Especially during menopause when hormone imbalance often makes hair drier and more prone to breakage. People with fragile hair should avoid shampoos that contain lauryl or laureth sulfates. Read the backs of your bottles ladies! These ingredients can be found in MOST shampoos because it is a cheap and effective lathering agent. Natural shampoos like "Naked Naturals" do not contain these products, and are available at most retail drug stores. Also, taking 1000 to 5000 mcgs. of Biotin daily helps strengthen both hair AND nails. Believe it or not, women suffer from hair loss too!
